Applications for A2ELP 2024 Open

Applications for the 2024 Australia-ASEAN Emerging Leaders Program (A2ELP) are now open.

A2ELP brings together the next generation of young social entrepreneurs from across Southeast Asia and Australia to build leadership skills and networks for social impact.

During a three month online program delegates will build knowledge of scalable and sustainable business models, cultural intelligence and innovative start-up and enterprise methodologies. There will be chances to network with industry, academic and government leaders, and hear from innovators and investors tackling the region’s challenges.

The program includes a one week visit to Australia. In 2024, Australia will commemorate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations. A2ELP delegates will have the opportunity to visit Australia and celebrate this historic occasion.

Applications are open to social entrepreneurs (founders and leaders of a social enterprise) between 18 and 35 years old from Australia and ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

The program will run from January 2024 to April 2024, and provide 15 social entrepreneurs the opportunity to elevate their professional and leadership skills. In early March, delegates will come together in Australia for a week long professional and cultural immersion experience.

A2ELP is run by the Australian social enterprise Social Good Outpost. Alumni from the program are changemakers from across the region, making an impact across diverse sectors including mental health care, agriculture, indigenous communities, education, technology and fashion.

A2ELP is a flagship program of the Australia-ASEAN Council, funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Our indicative timeline for the 2024 program will be:

  • September 2023: Applications open for A2ELP 2024
  • October 2023: Applications close, applicants shortlisted and interviewed
  • November 2023: Delegates chosen. All applicants notified of outcome.
  • Late January 2024: A2ELP begins online
  • March 2024: A2ELP in-person and continues online
  • April 2024: A2ELP 2024 concludes

From January – April 2024, participants will embark on:

  • weekly online learning modules (self led)
  • weekly online sessions together live on Zoom
  • a one-week visit to Australia
